Demonstrations are just that! I do and you watch.....
Prior to the demonstration I spend several days if not weeks preparing a 90 - 120 minute presentation. I begin with preparing the base work in advance ie. the work that you would find far too boring to watch. Or in many cases, the work that would take too long such as binding lots of twigs together to create a form, dripping wax down a frame, making moss sausages..... the mind boggles!
As the idea takes shape I begin to collect other elements of the design. Choosing forms, textures, and colours that will provide the line, focal areas, rhythm, and transition throughout the arrangement.
The designs are packaged for travelling and lists are made of the work that needs to be completed on arrival. Flower and foliage lists are made and attempts to source the wish lists begin.
Pack the car... and often the horse float (no kidding!).
Reach desination, unpack, sort, prepare final touches to bases and confirm the order of designs.
Lights, music, microphone.........ACTION!
